Saint-Martin d'Oydes

The little town of Saint-Martin d'Oydes was built completely encircling the church for protection.  First the moat, then the circle of houses, and finally the church served as the last resort for the town's people when attacked.  The moat was later filled in and an entry way cut in the 19th century.   Beautiful little details delighted us and we hiked to a hill above the town for a picnic and better views.
