The Louvre

The Louvre is intimidating with it's 12 miles of galleries and 30,000 works of art, not to mention it's massive, palace-like facade along the Seine.  Nevertheless, we followed Rick Steve's plan and emerged energized rather than exhausted.  We focused  on "Venuses" through history, from prehistoric flat figures, to the Greek Venus De Milo and  the Winged Victory of Samothrace to da Vinci's Mona Lisa, and  Michelangelo's the Slaves, to discovery what each generation found beautiful.  Note the paparazzi around the First Lady of the Louvre.
